INVISSIBLE - 3D Educational Game for High School BiologyThe Interactive Virtual Intelligent System for Scientific Inquiry
in a Biology Learning Environment (INVISSIBLE) is an interactive 3D educational game designed to help high school students better understand and apply scientific methodologies to biology problems.

In INVISSIBLE, students play the role of a Forensic Scientist assigned to investigate a murder (similar to CSI). Students search for clues at a crime scene and morgue, interview suspects, search criminal databases for fingerprints and DNA. Students learn about DNA, mitochondrial DNA, fingerprints, hairs and fibers.

Students are required to take detailed notes about their investigation and must complete a final report. This final report uses a scaffolding technique to prompt students to use scientific reasoning to determine how the murder was committed, who committed the murder and who to eliminate as a suspect. This final report, along with the students' notes are stored and can be accessed by the instructor to grade and/or give feedback to the students. INVISSIBLE takes on average 90 minutes to complete. Students' progress is stored so that it can be used over multiple class periods.

INVISSIBLE has been tested with over 200 high school Biology students over the last two years and has received overwhelming positive response by both teachers and students alike. The majority of students who use INVISSIBLE report that they cannot wait to come in to school the following day to complete the investigation. To inquire about using INVISSIBLE at your school, please email us at: contact@digitalprecisionmedia.net or click here. INVISSIBLE was chosen as a 2008 NSF Program Highlight.
